CASCADÚ began performing at the tender age of 6. Steeped in the music and dance of his native Trinidad, he began the study of orchestral and world percussion while pursuing a degree in Biogeography at York University, Canada. The desire to develop his musicianship brought him to New York in 1984, where he intensified his study of Afro-Cuban and Brazilian percussion.
Cascadú has also pursued a successful career in academia as a marine research biologist, professor of marine and ecological sciences, and as a Principal of a New York City Charter School.

As a percussionist, Cascadú has worked and recorded with leading artists in his native Trinidad like Clive Zanda, Len ‘Boogsie’ Sharpe and Raf Robertson as well as internationally renowned figures like Jon Lucien, Elza Soares and Chief Bey.

His debut CD, Caribbean Odyssey, is a compilation of original compositions that are the very soul of the Caribbean. From Brazilian influenced East River Sail and Island Woman to the Latin flavored Two Steps Down and Between Sea & Sky, to the ecological classic of Grouper Grounds; the reggae pulse of Mango Colada, the Caribbean Jamboree in Anansi’s Dance and the ‘sweet pan’ of In’er Tropical Storm, this musician delivers completely and faithfully!
